TANZANIAN golfer Jimmy Mollel made a dream progress at the Uganda Open professional championship after making a cut.

Mollel who had a dismal start at Wednesday’s opening round at the Uganda Golf Club, Kampala, Uganda, steadied his hand yesterday to claim a place in the finals with 29 lucky others. 30 golfers managed to make a cut after the yesterday’s 36th hole competition.

He started with sevenover 79 gross on Wednesday, but his much improved score of 74 yesterday to total 9-over 153 helped him make a cut. Only 30 golfers enter today third round out of 88 who started the race in the battle that saw the only lady Pro, Ugandan Flavia Namakula also failing to make it.

Other Tanzania envoy, Fadhil Nkya found the going very tough after he carded 17 over par to total 161 (81,80) strokes and crashed out. Kenyan long hitter Dismas Indiza lead by three shots after second round four-Under 140 (69,71).
