South African President Jacob Zuma has appointed senior advocates Jennifer Cane and Daluxolo (Dali) Mpofu as members of the Judicial Service Commission (JSC), the Presidency said on Friday.

“Advocate Jennifer Cane SC and Advocate Daluxolo Mpofu SC were nominated by the General Council of the Bar of South Africa to represent the advocates’ profession in the JSC,” Presidency said.

“President Zuma has congratulated Advocate Cane and Advocate Mpofu and wished them all the best in their new responsibilities of advancing the country’s constitutional democracy.”

The commission advises government on judicial matters. It also interviews candidates for judicial posts, makes recommendations on appointment to the bench and handles complaints brought against judges.
