JICA alumni to visit Zanzibar



Zanzibar minister for Labour, Empowerment, Elderly, Youth, Women and Children, Ms Moudline Castico. 


Dar es Salaam. The Jica Alumni Association of Tanzania (Jata) is expecting to visit and observe activities of seaweed farmers in Zanzibar on Saturday, October 21.


The visit aims to enable members of the association learn from seaweed chain value and impacts to the households.


According to statement releases on Thursday October 19 by Jica public relations advisor Mr Raymond Msofe, the tour will be graced by Zanzibar minister for Labour, Empowerment, Elderly, Youth, Women and Children, Ms Moudline Castico.


“The trip will also familiarise and interact women groups in the seaweed value chain enterprise,” Said Mr Msofe.


He added that participants will observe and purchase various products prepared from seaweed including soap, juice, jam, salad and pudding.


Jata is an association which brings together all Tanzanians who were trained in Japan or in other countries under sponsorship of the Japan International Cooperation Agency.


It has more than 2,500 members drawn from public and private sectors.
